Group Classes

ICPA’s qualification programmes are conducted as intimate group classes. This page presents the Japanese Protocol programmes, taught in English for members from overseas, together with their schedule.

Learning Together

A group class at ICPA is far more than a course. Executives, diplomats, and members of distinguished families — each of a different path — gather under a shared aspiration to learn together.

Every class is kept deliberately small, with no more than ten members. And whilst you learn alongside others, the Founding Principal walks beside each member individually. The advisory relationship is preserved throughout, within the class and beyond it.

Learning together, guided individually.

The Value of Company

I
The company of accomplished peers becomes a lifelong network. The bonds formed here endure beyond your studies, within the specialist family.
II
Observing others in practice yields understanding that solitary study cannot. Deportment is refined through the presence of others.
III
To stand within a room of chosen standard is itself an education in bearing. Shared aspiration deepens the intensity of the learning.
IV
Even within the group, the Founding Principal’s individual guidance is never lost. Each member is led, whilst learning among peers.

Programmes & Schedule

Our Japanese Protocol qualification is offered as a seven-day intensive, conducted entirely in English for members from overseas. Sessions run from 10:00 to 18:00, with weekends free; the final afternoon is devoted to examination and certification. Each programme is held twice a year, in spring and autumn, at ICPA’s home in Marunouchi, Tokyo.

Applications must be completed three months before a class begins. For an autumn start, apply by the end of June; for a spring start, by the end of the preceding December.

Admission & Enrolment

ICPA maintains small classes throughout. To preserve the quality of learning, the following applies.

Applications must be completed three months before a class begins.

  • Each class is confirmed three months before it begins, and applications must therefore be completed by that time. Should the class be under-subscribed at that point, it will not proceed.
  • Where a class does not proceed, you may transfer to private tuition or defer to the next term. As the continuity of your study is assured, fees are not refundable. A minimum of three members is required for a class to open.
  • Each programme is held twice a year, in spring and autumn.
  • No classes are held on public holidays, nor during the New Year, Obon, and Golden Week periods.

As a membership programme, further particulars are shared through our materials or an online briefing.
