Our Membership System

A members-only academy where learning becomes a lifelong relationship

Learning begins at the moment of enrolment
and continues as a relationship for life

— About Our Membership —

ICPA is a
Members-Only Academy

A members-only academy of international protocol

ICPA is a members-only academy.

We are at once a place where the highest standards of international protocol are taught with rigour, and a place where the Founding Principal engages personally and seriously with each member — forming a relationship that endures for life.

It is for this reason that we have chosen the members-only form. There are two grounds for this choice.

— Reason I
Personal Commitment

There are things that an open and unlimited place of learning cannot provide. ICPA forms a long-term, individual relationship with each member, and the Founding Principal personally accompanies their journey.

This is something that only a members-only academy can offer.

— Reason II
The Power of Belonging

One naturally rises when placed in a fitting environment.

The sense of security and pride that comes from belonging to ICPA itself becomes the force that propels each member towards the person they aspire to be.

At ICPA, this relationship of serious engagement and dignified belonging is made tangible through the bond with the Founding Principal.

— Why Guidance —

Why Guidance,
Beyond Answers

The value of being accompanied, not merely instructed

Each of us lives with questions that have no easy answer.

Was this decision correct? How should I conduct myself in this moment? Is this the life I should be leading?

The higher one’s social standing, the fewer people there are with whom such questions may be honestly discussed. Founders and senior professionals, in particular, often find themselves without a master with whom they can speak frankly. The questions deepen; the answers remain out of reach.

ICPA offers, to each of its members, a relationship with the Founding Principal.

At first, you may feel “I have no need of this”
Yet for all who live carrying questions without answers
it is a relationship that will, in time, become essential
— Two Modes of Relationship —

Advisory and Mentoring

Two distinct forms of engagement with the Founding Principal
— Advisory
A respectful distance

For members who wish to consult the Founding Principal on specific matters as they arise.

A relationship of considered guidance, offered when called upon. Available to all members at the Member tier and above.

— Mentoring
A continuous bond

A continuing relationship in which the Founding Principal walks alongside the member through the questions of life and profession.

For Standard and Fellow members, mentoring begins from the moment of enrolment — not at the completion of qualification.

— Stories of Mentoring —

Four Stories of Accompaniment

Glimpses of the relationships our members have come to value

Each story below is composed from the experiences of our members, with details adjusted to preserve confidentiality. They illustrate the kind of accompaniment that ICPA provides.

— CASE I —
Founders & Executives · in their 40s to 60s
The Solitude of Decision

A founder of a company carried with her, each day, the weight of important decisions and the unspoken question: “Is this truly the right choice?” She could not show weakness to her employees, nor speak of business with her family. To bear, alone, the judgements that no one else could share — this had begun to exhaust her.

Through mentoring, it was not the correctness of her decisions that changed, but the way of being from which she decided. Today, her decisions are no longer made in solitude, but in dialogue with her own inner foundation.
— CASE II —
Physicians, Solicitors & Specialists · in their 30s to 50s
The Grace Beyond Expertise

A specialist of the highest calibre, leading in his knowledge and craft, came to sense that “expertise alone could not reach a certain quality.” What distinguished him from his peers in the same profession was not skill — it was grace.

Today, his patients and clients place their trust not only in his expertise, but in the human being he has become. His maturity as a professional has, at last, been matched by his maturity as a person.
— CASE III —
Next-Generation Elites & Young Professionals · in their 20s to 30s
Maturing Without Haste

Having attained an elevated position at a young age, this member carried a quiet impatience: “I am yet to be someone.” Skills can be acquired; but maturity as a person cannot be hastened, however much one might wish it.

Rather than accumulating experience in haste, he learned to draw deeply from each experience as it came. Today, his maturity unfolds at the pace at which true depth is formed.
— CASE IV —
Those at a Turning Point in Life · in their late 40s to 60s
How Shall I Live, From Here

Having reached a turning point in family life and professional life, this member carried a great and unfamiliar question: “How shall I live, from here?” It was a question no one had ever taught her, and one for which she could not find an answer alone.

Mentoring was not a place where answers were given, but a place where the question was carried together. The answer does not come quickly. Yet the very life of carrying the question came to hold, in itself, a quiet grace.

Many other stories live within our membership.
