Train the Trainer
The path of those who come to teach international protocol
Certified Instructor · Registered Faculty of IPAA
The world is waiting for those who can teach it grace
Will you stand among
those who teach the world
To the side that carries grace outward
In an age when so much is borne by machines,
when borders soften and cultures meet,
the ability to convey respect from one person to another is sought as never before.
Those who seek that ability are to be found across the world.
Yet those who can teach it as the genuine article
remain very few indeed.
Those who have trained at ICPA may proceed
from the side that learns to the side that teaches.
To convey grace in their own words.
To be called upon by the world — that path begins here.
Those who have walked the path may, in time, light it for others
Everything required to teach
has already been prepared
To learn, to teach, to be rewarded — one single structure
Most who come to teach begin on their own. And the heaviest part of that road is having to find one’s students oneself.
The ability to teach, without the means to offer it, does not become a practice. To compose materials from nothing, to build a course, to argue its worth, to arrange payment, to gather enquiries — ordinarily, every part of it falls to one person alone.
At ICPA, all of it is already in place.
Study the discipline under the direct instruction of the Principal, within an established academic system.
From the day you qualify, deliver ICPA’s official courses under your own name, with materials and slides in hand.
The academy receives payment on your behalf. Remuneration is paid to you at the agreed rate.
Academic materials
Over three thousand pages of academic material, composed upon history, diplomatic research, behavioural science and intercultural theory. The documents to be given to your own students are prepared in full. You need write nothing yourself.
Teaching slides
Some thirty topics within each discipline, each accompanied by thirty to fifty lecture slides. They are given to you in a state fit to teach from on the very day your qualification is conferred.
Instruction manual
What to teach, in what order, and where the weight should fall. How to answer what a student brings. The practice of instruction the Principal has built over years, set down as a manual. Even the manner of teaching is prepared for you.
The means to offer it
You may offer and teach ICPA’s official courses under your own name. Payment passes through the academy, so you need neither invoice nor collect, and you are not left to determine a price alone.
Beginning on your own
- Materials written from nothing
- A course to design, and a price to set
- Payment and contracts to arrange
- A means of finding students, built from scratch
Throughout that preparation, no income arises.
Beginning with ICPA
- Materials: a system of over three thousand pages
- The courses, and their prices, already settled
- Payment received by the academy on your behalf
- Requests passed to you through the institution
Teaching may begin in the week your qualification is conferred.
What you have learnt becomes your work
There is no period of preparation. No years given over to producing materials, and no interval without income while that is done. From the moment your qualification is conferred, you may teach under your own name, and the practice begins to move.
Where you offer and teach ICPA’s official courses, remuneration is paid at the agreed rate. And for courses of your own devising, developed from ICPA’s materials —
At most, this share is retained by the instructor
A course that is your own, carrying the system and the authority of ICPA behind it. This is not something to be had by one who begins alone.
You will not be left to stand alone.
The materials, the structure, and the guidance of the Principal are in place before you begin.
So that the path of an instructor may be walked with confidence.
A qualification is not an ending
but the beginning of a relationship
To receive a qualification at ICPA does not mean that one’s study has concluded. It means that one’s relationship with the academy has begun.
Those who complete their studies walk with the academy for life, as members of its specialist family. The continued guidance of the Principal, access to the curriculum, and an international community — these are opened only after the qualification is conferred.
And beyond them lies one further path. The path of standing, oneself, as one who teaches.
What it means to stand
as one who teachesThree Doors That Open
To those who receive an ICPA Specialist qualification, three paths open at once. None of them is to be had elsewhere.
To begin at once
Ready from the First DayThe Certified Instructor qualification, and the right to deliver the certified courses, are conferred together. You may teach courses founded upon ICPA’s system under your own name. No period of preparation is required, and no apprenticeship. The conferral of the qualification is itself the commencement of practice. To the expertise you already hold, the endorsement of an international authority is added.
To become Registered Faculty of IPAA
Registered Faculty of IPAAYour name is entered among the registered faculty of the International Protocol Accreditation Association. Requests for training reach the association continually — from embassies, government bodies, the United States Armed Forces, and global corporations. Such requests are passed to our registered faculty. Rather than seeking students yourself, the trust the institution holds becomes the ground upon which you practise.
To walk a path that exists nowhere else
The Only Path of Its KindTo teach Japanese protocol and comportment, in English, to those from abroad — ICPA is the only institution in the world able to confer this qualification. To inherit the Japanese tradition and to stand on the side that carries it outward. Those who walk this path become, wherever in the world they may be, quite irreplaceable.
This is not a proposal
it is already taking place
Those who have received ICPA’s qualifications already stand upon their own platforms across the world.
Their course is also the course of those who are yet to begin.
Teaching Japanese protocol in Europe
Etiquette consultants in Europe have received the academy’s Japanese Protocol Specialist qualification, and now deliver instruction founded upon the ICPA system across the Continent.
Teaching within the United States Air Force
A protocol officer travelled from the United States to Japan and received the academy’s Japanese Diplomatic Protocol Specialist qualification. ICPA’s instruction is now delivered within the United States Air Force.
Teaching within one’s own enterprise
Company leaders across a range of industries have received the academy’s qualifications and now instruct their own executive clients. To an established business, the value of an international authority has been added.
Adding authority to existing expertise
Executive coaches and instructors have added the endorsement of an international authority to their own expertise, and offer courses of their own devising as certified instructors.
Each of them received their qualification at this academy.
No exceptional history preceded it; they stand where they stand as the result of their study.
The course to standing as one who teaches
Undertake the study
Upon a Specialist qualification course, under the direct instruction of the Principal, the discipline is mastered. That period is itself time spent walking beside one’s teacher.
Receive the qualification
Following assessment, the Specialist qualification is conferred. The Certified Instructor qualification and the right to deliver the certified courses open at the same moment.
Join the registered faculty of IPAA
Your name is entered among the registered faculty of the accreditation association, and the requests that reach the academy are passed to you.
Open a path of your own
Beyond the certified courses, you may offer courses of your own devising. The guidance of the Principal continues thereafter.
What it means
for the world to recognise it
Accredited by IPAA · Internationally recognised through LEPSW
The qualifications are conferred by IPAA, the International Protocol Accreditation Association.
By separating the place of learning from the authority of accreditation, objectivity and international standing are preserved.
ICPA is the sole institution accredited by LEPSW as the representative of Japan.
What our registered faculty carry is not a domestic qualification, but an authority that holds internationally.
The path
is already open
The path is open to those who would walk it
We shall speak first of this path at an online briefing.
There you may consider whether it is the path for you.
