I would like to share my same excitement with many people.
How did you find this course?
Currently, I am working as a company employee.
I have been working for four years now, and the number of tasks in which I have to communicate with people from overseas has been increasing.
I was wondering what kind of matters I should talk about and how important it is to communicate with people from overseas when they actually come for conferences.
I searched the internet for the words ‘international education and international etiquette’ and found this school.
There were really a lot of classes such as culture and manners when I searched, but I found this school and decided to go to the information session first and attended it.
At the information session, Murata-sensei told us that English has been necessary in this world for more than 10 years, and that even a single greeting can create communication.
“You applied on the same day. It was wonderful, an instant decision.”
How did you feel when you attended the beginners’ course?
You applied on the same day. It was wonderful, an instant decision.
How did you feel when you attended the beginners’ course?
I was very nervous at first, as it was my first time attending such a class and it was one-to-one with the trainer.
It was an intensive course, and the day was long, as the classes started at 10am and lasted until the evening.
It was hard work because there was a lot to remember and a lot to write, but every day was fulfilling and I became interested in many different things.
“Compared to the first time, you look much more lively.”
What are some of your most impressive lessons?
There were many impressive lessons, and the discussion of table manners and dress codes was memorable, but what I found particularly interesting was the study of history.
For example, how did chivalry come about, and how did etiquette and manners come about in the first place?
It was very impressive to study the long history of different countries in class, whether it was the ancient Egyptian period or the history of France in the past.
“The history part was really in-depth and fascinating.”
What were some of the best things about taking the course?
All the classes were really intense and I enjoyed learning every day because I didn’t know a lot of subjects, but above all, I realised that etiquette and manners are not something to be learnt or studied, but something to be observed and taken care of when communicating with someone and being considerate of them.
As you realise and learn these things, you will learn not to think too rigidly about etiquette and manners, but to be aware of what you need to be mindful of, in order not to make others feel uncomfortable. I am glad that I was able to change my thinking about what I should do appropriately in order not to make the other person feel uncomfortable.
What are your goals for the future?
I have finished the beginner level and am now studying the intermediate level.
I still have a lot to learn in depth and a lot to learn and a lot to learn in the English and language part, so I want to learn a lot of input now, and gradually create opportunities for practice, and one day, like you, I want to share the same kind of excitement with many people as I did.
“That’s wonderful.I know you have a lot to learn from now on, but let’s do our best.”
